Robert Walker

Director of Parks and Recreation at Macon-Bibb County

Robert Walker is a native of Columbus, GA and is a graduate of Central High School in Talbotton, GA. He attended Morris Brown College to study Therapeutic Recreation. Walker earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University in Recreation Management & Leisure Services and his master’s degree in Sports Management from Jacksonville State University.

 

Walker currently serves as Macon-Bibb County’s Director of Parks and Recreation. He has more than 20 years of experience in the field of recreation, working with the Washington Park YMCA, City of Macon, City of Atlanta DPRCA, and now Macon-Bibb County. During his tenure at Macon-Bibb County, he has been very instrumental in creating innovative recreation programming and developing several community partnerships, as well as helping oversee extensive facility upgrades, construction of new facilities, and the addition of dozens of pickleball courts.

 

Walker is a member of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association. He is also a graduate of Leadership Macon c/o 2020/2021.
