A Macon resident since 2007, John Roberts (JR) brings a wealth of operational experience to SFC after stints with the Historic Macon Foundation and the ASUN Conference, most recently serving as Historic Macon’s Director of Finance and Operations following 15 years as the Senior Associate Commissioner for Operations and Chief Financial Officer with the ASUN.
While with the ASUN, Roberts organized and executed operations for all 21 of the league’s championship sports, as well as managing the conference’s awards, broadcast, and officiating programs. Additionally, Roberts managed the organizational budget and human resources–including payroll operations and benefits management for a staff of 19 people.
A pickleball enthusiast, Roberts has planned and organized pickleball tournaments throught the southeastern United States since 2019, and initiated the Pinkest Pickleball Party on the Planet for the Macon Pickleball Association in 2021, drawing more than 300 players from around the southeast in its first year. He’s served as tournament director for Southern Pickleball Association events since the inception of the organization, as well as helming the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association State Pickleball Tournament since 2021–an event that drew more than 500 players in 2023.
Roberts holds an undergraduate degree in religion from the University of Georgia, and a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia College and State University. In his spare time you can find JR on the pickleball courts, hiking trails around Georgia, or hanging out with his daughter, the precocious princess, Lillie.
