The Jay M. Robinson Mondo Track & Field Facility continues to generate economic impact from sports tourism in Cabarrus County. The venue is set to host its first meet of the 2025 season this month which is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of more than $488,000.
.
During the USA South Conference Championship on April 25-26, 150 collegiate athletes will compete in a variety of track and field events including high jump, long/triple jump and all throwing events. The meet is also expected to bring 150 spectators.
.
“As the destination’s official marketing organization, one of our goals is to attract visitors from the sports segment in order to generate positive impact through visitor spending,” said Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau President and CEO Donna Carpenter. “We’re thrilled to see that goal being met with a community asset that benefits both visitors and residents. Taxes generated by visitor spending made enhancements to this facility possible, so we have past visitors to thank.”
