Mayor Brenda Bethune

Mayor of City of Myrtle Beach

Mayor Brenda Bethune is a native of Myrtle Beach who has always had a sincere passion to serve her community.  She owns BJ Investments, a property investment, development and rental company, as well as Magnolia Row Shopping Centre.  She was also the majority owner of Better Brands, Incorporated, where she gained more than 39 years of business development, sales and management experience.  She is a graduate of the Riley Mayors’ Design Fellowship through Clemson University and she serves on the Board of Directors of the Municipal Association of South Carolina.  Even though she has served on many local and state boards, her pride is in giving back to her community to make it a better place for generations to come.  Mayor Bethune loves her job as a public servant and when introduced to people, her common request is, “Please call me Brenda.”  Brenda Bethune was first elected in 2017 and was the first female Mayor of Myrtle Beach.  Her term expires in January 2026.
